A Weekend in Lobo, Batangas

The semester’s finally over, even if it’s distance learning where we’re not physically present at school, and it involves online education thus far, we also needed this quick escape. I know, by having this, both our physical and mental health and well-being as a whole will gain a profound effect and that is why we look forward to this time away!

Again, we’re here at Ma’am Nelia’s (my colleague) hometown in Sitio Paho Biga, Lobo, Batangas. This has been planned for almost 3 weeks now, and finally we made it. 🤩

I’ve been here last April 2021 and was able to share how to get here in A Day in Biga, Lobo, Batangas blog. So we arrived 8:00 AM, and we’ve been invited for a breakfast before we head on to our whereabouts.

This way to the sea. I noticed that there were only few people reside here, and the place is quiet and peaceful. It is really different from our place — the trees and mountain here are just few steps away from us, that’s why my amusement is still like the first time. 😍

This getaway and pleasure trip is attainable for people from almost all walks of life. My colleagues and I are some of the lucky few to have the precious time to savor an escape and to be together — out of the pressure, and somehow running away from responsibilities for a while.

We went boating and whizzing around, seeing beautiful sights in a distant while it’s raining. I was shivering because it’s cold, but I enjoyed it. I believe there’s a next time for this and go island hopping the moment I’ll have the chance, so. 😉

We’ve been looking forward to seeing and doing something new and different. We learned bits and pieces about sort of origin of the place thus, enriching and stimulating our intellect about it whilst enabling to nurture our friendship tie, create lasting memories, and deepen personal connections with each other.

Keep yourselves busy! Enjoy guys, though this trip will leave us all renewed and rested, on Monday back to the daily grind as if we were never away at all. 🤣

It’s been a blessing in disguise as the rain poured on this day for us to spend more time in the water without having to think that we might get a sunburn. Although, I wasn’t able to capture more of what we did and eye-catching views it’s indeed an apparent misfortune I must say that eventually lead us to enjoy the moments more. It is our minds and our hearts that clearly captured what we truly felt on these special moments — somehow it was everything.

And we’re heading back. We found ourselves stuck in situations we don’t normally experience in our daily lives, so we’re here breaking free from the norm. 😄

Moments like these are something on a much deeper level that will surely keep us coming back for more, and to push ourselves to see more and learn more. Here is where I definitely find the best in myself and to others. Little did I know, I become the person that I had hoped I would become as a child: a wanderer and a learner of things.

We were all exhausted and tired from the quite adventure we’ve just had, but it’s all worth it. Thank God for these people, for the precious time and energy you gave us. Until our next. ღ

Samgyeopsal with Friends: A Quick Escape

The Philippine government under the approval of COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) already imposed to gradually ease restrictions for food establishments but with only 50% capacity to areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Definitely good news for those who crave for their favorite Samgyeopsal dishes. And as for me and my friends, we took this chance soon as we’re free to dig in.

We removed our masks for a second, so there’ll be visible smiles on our faces.

Since it’s Sunday, where we’re all free from work we took this moment to visit Sampgyup Korean Restaurant located in SM City Batangas. In fact, we have other choices, but we have other matters to do inside the mall, so we considered this place.

It’s our first time to eat in this Korean house, the typical ambiance is evident with grilling pan and smoke pipe Korean exhaust blower. Of course, the place is filled with a K-pop playlist where customers can hear some Korean vibe.

Before we finally sit and order, we were first asked to fill out a form which records some of our health histories, given hand sanitizers, and the staff checked our body temperature with the infrared temperature gun. Then, we’re led to sit in a four-seater table. These kinds of stuff of the restaurant were the norms to follow strict health protocol standards imposed by the government since they are allowed to welcome dine-in customers.

We ordered the Unlimited Pork (Bulgogi, Soy Garlic, Gochujang, Soju Pork, Plain) and Chicken (Salt & Pepper, Gochujang) worth 399PHP with side dishes which include Kimchi, Cucumber and Carrot salad (tossed in vinegar and a bit of ginger), Sweet baby potatoes, Japchae (glass noodles stir-fried with vegetables), Korean braised tofu, Lettuce, Korean egg and Steamed rice.

Same with some restaurants we’ve been to, we cooked the meat on a grill pan. For some, they use charcoal grill which somehow brings a better taste to the meat. And some Korean restaurants offer to cook the meat for the customer. But for us, it is always more fun and exciting to grill the meat ourselves even though we’re starving already haha.

We were able to consume two servings of Pork and Chicken which were enough to satisfy our cravings. It’s kinda tiring to grill it honestly so haha. Also, I commend the staffs for their approachable service, the serving time didn’t take too long as well. The music on the screen was a real deal, the playlists that time were Blackpink’s, Red Velvet’s, Momoland’s, and SNSD’s where we’re able to sing and hum too, while grilling. Since we’re not experts, we were unsure if we cooked the meat perfectly or still undercooked. Uhmm as they say, Happiness is cooking with friends and eating together. And foods taste better when you eat it with them anyways. 😊

We were blessed not just the financial needs, but also the time and friendship we have had for a long time. We know that we can’t fully use the time for other stuff, since we’re still on these trying times. We’re just so thankful that we’re all safe and still able to meet and have a quick escape, have good food to eat while sharing some talks about how our lives have been so far while we’re on a distance and quarantined for about four months now.

Till our next food trip. So, how are you and your friends going these times? Let me know down the comment section below.

Birthday Blog | June 7, 2020

Honestly, I had no idea that this pandemic which we didn’t expect unveiled to drastically spread to cause lockdown which happened to be extended to its utmost until it reached my special day, indeed anxiety-inducing. We were under quarantine, and I had to adjust about the setup to what’s going to happen after all the plans I made in my mind prior to this.

So here’s the thing, I admit that I’ve had a birthday blues, this might sound an oxymoron but, yes I had to deal with it. Despite the fact that I should be excited anything about my special day like positivity, love, joy, attention, people, and other stuffs — it seemed to be a paradox, or something I’m feeling to contradict with what it should look like or what should I feel.

Maybe for some, it feels like they’re obligated to feel special and celebrate the day they were born. And as for me, I know this is supposed to be a good time and I’m blessed about the present and good things happened and still happening in my life, it’s just that there are tons of thoughts which gradually bug me to feel anxious on my birthday. Here are some:

#1 I’m aging another year. “Age is just a number” they say, but there’s no denying about the feeling and the changes which come along with getting another one. I got to always compare my present self to my younger self about my physical, mental, and emotional aspects. I know it will take at least a couple of times to accept it and look forward.

#2 I’m feeling the weight of others expectation. I believe it’s just really up to me on how I put action to make something happen for my sanity, career, family, or finances and to obtain it in a specific time as I age. You definitely can’t avoid some people to observe the gap between who you are and what they want you to have or become. But on another note, it’s easy to say for some that they don’t need anyone’s validation on how they should be living their lives because there’s always a perfect timing and chance for everyone. Which I think I should keep in mind also.

#3 My own expectations. I have this unhealthy attachment to things like expecting outcomes I wish I could control but I just couldn’t. My birthday serves every year as the reminder to accomplish things I wanted for a certain age. It allows me to contemplate the things which I haven’t accomplished yet which tends to create heartbreaks through my expectations. But I guess it’s time to count all the accomplishments I did whether big or small and feel proud of my capabilities I lacked to notice.

My 23rd Birthday 🎈

“It’s my birthday, so I’m celebrating everything.”

Despite all these things in my head, and on what’s happening around, my birthday was still a blast, and I am blessed to have my family, friends and colleagues to make me feel I’m showered with abundance of appreciation, love, and warmth for me to embrace this so-called birthday blues. I think it’s normal for a certain individual to feel sad around his birthday, which I experienced it myself but I overcome it.

How about you? Ever felt something to came up with realizations on your birthday? How do you spend your day?

I wonder what’s going to happen next. See you on my next blog.

Life Lately 2020 Vol.1

It’s May and I haven’t seen the outside world for so long as it continues to stagger from the COVID-19 Pandemic— a gruesome phenomenon in which everyone thought that could happen only in movies. We’re being quarantined, and it happened to be extended as if the occurrence of this dangerous virus was unprecedented, a truth to be told. Also, curfew hours have been imposed in some places, which gave me The Purge vibe. We stay home where it’s safe and flinch in our seats every time the news drags new cases.

Life has changed dramatically for many of us, the usual daily routine has been greatly affected. Few turned to be a virtual being– stuck in front of their PCs and mobile phones. Meals have been scheduled for different times of the day. And for some, their body clock pattern has also changed. Well, we don’t have any choice anyway.

With the overabundance of time on hand and a changed mindset, I wanted to share the daily routine and habits that I have implemented on being quarantined.

Since I stayed home for so long now, here are a few things I’ve begun to make a habit:

#1 Write On My Everyday Journal

Journal

A goal without a plan is just a wish. My journal is the haven for my thoughts. It is my safe place, to write what’s my plan, my dream, and I know I’m free from judgement. When I write, it feels like I’m talking to my inner self and saboteur. I’m glad I have this to spill everything, especially during the times when I’m feeling worst.

#2 Morning Workout

Before I’m doing a 30-day light challenge, I struggle a bit but it’s a great start and I pushed myself! Now I’m on my 45th day and I tend to do it every morning so that I have enough energy to make it through the rest of the afternoon and evening, the time I’m inclined to do other tasks.

#3 Check Emails and Do WFH Tasks

I check my email first thing in the morning as I have important business to look after. Then straight ahead to school works if there’s any given task to accomplish or any task plan for the week to update and feed it on our online learning module. It is also the time to look for online training and certifications. And uh, my paper on graduate school.

#4 Leisure Activities

Connecting with some of my best pals became a part of my leisure time when I’m away from Netflix (series/k-dramas), reading books, playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, TikTok, and social media. Since I don’t have bae, colleagues are always around. We had the opportunity to afford mutual investment on each other during this time.

#5 Nighttime Regimen

ezgif.com-video-to-gif

This nighttime skin-care regimen aims to address my skin issues before the sleep begins. I usually use a water-based cleanser with brush to gently massage my skin, and rinsing my face with cold water. Having this routine every night will surely help me to slightly look better soon as I step on the outside world.

You, what routine have you brought on being quarantined?

No matter what habits or patterns you have or having none at all, it’s totally fine as we are all coming from different uncertainties and struggles to cope up during this quarantine. You can be enough to be yourself. As long as You Are Doing Your Best To Cope And Survive, It’s Enough. You Are Enough.

Life is tough lately but so are we. Let’s just do what we can and God will do the rest. Soon, when all things went back to normal, we’re going to look back on this point of our lives, and we’ll be proud of ourselves that we never gave up.
